How to add a friend on the just talk app

I've put together a new tutorial. It's nice and short and tackles one point only. How do you add friends on the just talk app? Just talk is not only about sharing voice notes publicly but also about sending private voice notes to friends and family. It is a social media platform aswell as an instant messenger for voice notes only. As many of us may already know, there's no texting on the "just talk app".

To add a friend on the just talk app, tap the compass icon on the top left corner of the screen (from the home screen/timeline screen/cast screen).
Next, search for your friend by their name or username by tapping the search box and typing out their name. As you begin to type, suggestions will pop-up and your friend's name might even show up before you finish typing it. Tap the plus icon (green box) in front of their name/username when you've found the right person. This would send a friend request to the intended person.
Once your friend request has been accepted you will be able to find them in your friend list. To access your friend-list, from the home screen or from the message page, tap the floating green icon on the bottom right of the screen.

You will now be able to send your friends' private messages as long as they are in your friend list. all private messages sent to your friends will be automatically deleted after 48 hours.

Audio blog on just talk.

Did you know you could create your own blog on the just talk app? Audio blogs to be precise. We'll love to hear about your day. No one would be watching so feel free to say whatever you want at anytime. We'll just be listening so there's no need to be shy as there are no videos involed. I have uploaded a sample on the timeline, so that should give a broad idea of the things that could be uploaded. If you can say it, it can be posted on the just talk app. You just have to make sure its at most 3 minutes long. If its offensive or if people don't like it and they vote "dislike" then the post will be deleted after 24 hours. So please be nice.

What's just talk (description with latest feature)

Just Talk is a social media platform for voice notes only. It allows people share voice notes privately and publicly.
You can send messages privately to your contacts on the app and each message sent and received can be listened to as many times as possible withing 2 days. After which the message will be automatically deleted. The message will be automatically deleted after 2 days regardless of whether the recipient has listened to the message or not.
If you do not like how you sound after playing back a recorded message you can easily change how you sound by using any of the included voice filters in the app. There are currently 9 voice filters included in the app.

You can send messages publicly even if you have no "just talk" contacts. This messages are called casts or post and they go on your timeline for everyone with a just talk account to listen. you can also use voice filters with them. To attract more listeners you can give it a short text title. These posts can be re-posted by anyone. They can also make comments on the things you say by publicly replying your posts (audio only). in addition to re-posting and replying your posts, users can also like and dislike your posts with your posts getting deleted after 24 hours if it has 70%+ more dislikes than likes.

You will fully enjoy the just talk app if you invite your friends to join the party and search for more on the app. You can also search for the specific casts you want on the timeline.

Just talk is currently available for free on the google play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.something.ganik.justtalk

No one is watching, Just Talk

We would like everyone to be able to freely express themselves on just talk. Sometimes you may feel its awkward just speaking to your phone and you feel like you're in front of the people who may be listening. You then begin to feel shy and you stop recording. There's not a video recording app or YouTube, so you can actually get on with it. No one is watching you everyone would be listening instead. so just take your phone, open the just talk app and begin recording.

don't forget to download the app for free on the play store: https://play.google.com/apps/publish/?account=8159777832692878572#AppDashboardPlace:p=com.something.ganik.justtalk&appid=4972176059881047548

Did you know!! ( Spoken words versus Written/texted words)

Did you know that even with the word "please" in a sentence, you could still bore into the nerves of someone and piss them off? Depending on where the word "please" goes in a sentence, you can easily be misunderstood. Compare certain scenarios in your mind with spoken and written words. You will quickly discover written words can easily be misunderstood because there's no tone or audible expression to it. Readers can use any tone they feel like depending on their mood. To retain intimacy while speaking to someone, you may chose to speak to someone in person (face to face conversation), over the phone (phone call) or through video calls. Hence the person must be readily available to speak to you when you wish to speak to them. We all know this is not possible all the time as people have very diverse schedules and live in different time zones and may often need to communicate to each other. Sometimes it's expensive to call if the other person is abroad. there might be too much of the word "hello, hello hello, can you hear me?" with voice calls over the internet. Some of us don't live in countries with fast internet, some of us have friends and family abroad in those countries. With video calls, the person not only needs to be available to speak to you, but must be ready to show their face in front of a camera assuming the internet signal is perfect in the first place. Sometimes it may have to be premeditated when it comes to group calls. What if you want to share your message to a lot of people who are very busy and will only be able to listen or view your message when they're less busy? perhaps a pre-recorded video or a live video would do the trick. But you know you have to be camera ready to record yourself and your users may have to pay attention, Not only listening but watching also. We listeners have to wave bye to multitasking while we're watching that video. We already have social media and direct messaging apps/platforms like Twitter, Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram and Snapchat that make communication easier  by allowing users share using, texts, pictures and videos. Most of them include voice notes/text-to-speech/speech-to-text as a passive feature of which doesn't work well in many instances as people have different accents and sometimes the phone just doesn't understand you. None of them ever place emphases on voice notes which can solve all the issue discussed earlier and many more that have not been highlighted. The Just Talk social media app does not only address issues and more. We are aware that not everyone knows how to read and write, it also introduces some new features that make audio chatting and sharing a lot fun, it is the first social media app that focuses on voice memos. It attracts users from all parts of the world because of its simplicity. Users can share like they do on other social media platform a long as they remember they would be sharing voice memos only. Not everyone likes how they sound when they record a voice memo, so the app includes Voice filters that allow users change how they sound. Direct messaging is also possible with the conditions that it will be voice memos only. An interesting feature about direct messaging is that all direct messages are automatically deleted after 24hours regardless of whether they've been opened or not. The uses for every individual are endless just like other social media platforms. This is a new platform that everyone should truly get into. It's faster as all you need is your voice.

here's where to find your direct messages on JUST TALK

As much as we're dedicated  to make sure we bring you the best app we also know it's important that you know how to use it. Yes JUST TALK is easy to use and there's no way anyone would find it difficult to use. We're aware of that but we have to be sure of that don't we. Hence why we've made this and other videos. This video focuses on the direct messaging aspect of the app. shows you where to find our sent and received  messages are. how to identify then and differentiate them. On Just talk all direct messages are automatically deleted regardless of whether you open them or not. The emojis help to indicate if your messages have been or not. we've also made it easier to reply each message. instead of going to the record page and searching for a user who just messaged you, all you have to do is hold the received message and they would automatically selected in the record page where you can easily record your message, use a voice filter if you please and send it. This is an app many have thought about but not really thought of it as something they'll need. we promise, this will get you hooked.

Knowing your app (part 28). Record, upload share.. coming soon

Whats better than updating the world without showing your face or using mobile keyboad. New feature coming soon this week. Get ready for the update. Some people may find the app annoying when they first download it as they cannot use it because they do not have any friends or family member on it although i've been offering my username as their number 1 contact but that doesnt seem do the job of keeping users. Introducing once again, Just Talk Cast. Upload voice Notes on the go using real time voice changers and share it on your story page (Cast page) and on facebook. How about that for a change. Record, upload and share... The cast page would represent the story and discover page on Snapchat, Where your story would be called casts and casts will be voice messages only, and the discover page would be replaced by podcasts.

Knowing your app (part 26). Blocking, flagging and deleting your contacts

Hello everyone, I'ts time for a little more tutorial on how to use the app. Many people have not been to the settings page/screen so have paid little attention to the fact that it is possible to block, delete and report users for indecent use of the app. Deleting a user is pretty easy and all have been plainly labelled in the settings page meeting all apple's specification. Many of us may already know how to get to the settings page but for many of us who don't and for the new users, I would let us know how.

Before i begin what is Just Talk DTJT all about? It is a straight up voice messaging app for voice messages only. No texting whatsoever in the app. It is the first of its kind and it allows users change ow they sound using voice filters. Users may listen to their messages as many times as they please but all messages would be deleted after 24 hours. and this is regardless f wether they've been opened or not.

Now back to the reason why many of use are reading this post. it is pretty easy to delete, block and flag a user. a blocked user would no longer be able to contact you and a deleted user would be taken of your contact list. If you block a user it is easy to unblock them aswell. However re-adding previous contacts on the app after deleting them would require you to send them a friend request and wait for them to accept the request or vice versa.

Getting to the setting page/screen is really easy all you have to do is tap the icon on the top left of the screen (this icon is a double bolt and can be seen from the settings page itself, the profile page, the record page and the timeline page). In the settings page you would find your login information and the list of all your contacts. At the top of this list you would find the options to block, flag and delete any of your contacts tapping in the respective box would either delete or block the contact contact you wish to block or delete. At the moment any issue related to flagging a contact would be looked into within 24 hours (you would be notified if there are any changes to this procedure you would be notified and more information can be found in out terms and conditions page. picture od the setting page are shown bellow.

We hope you keep enjoying our new innovative app. Sincere apologies to the lack of notification function at the moment. All will be up and running with new features in the coming week. Happy mother's day weekend.

Knowing your app (part 25) My story. developing an app with zero development skills.

In the past few weeks, I have been getting wonderful feedbacks on my app. It is far from what it should be but it has been doing better than I expected and i'm very grateful to everyone who has been supportive so far. Many people do not know how long it has taken me to build the app and many make several hypothesis of how I have managed on. The Idea of Just talk came to me more than a year ago. At this time I had no app development skill. I knew nothing about coding languages and how they codes actually worked. But I had with me the most brilliant idea ever. How did I know this was a brilliant idea? easy, I believed in it, I told people and I entered it in a completion. The feedbacks from people were both encouraging and depressing but I worked on the criticized points of the app improved the already good parts and best of all I was successful in the competition.

At that point it felt I have gotten a certificate that said to me confidently that my app would change the world. With this in my mind the next stage was to build the app. With no app development skills I obviously needed to find help. I spoke to a couple of people and I was advised to find  co-founder who was good with app coding. How was a fresh graduate who studied BSc economics and MSc Entrepreneurship going to find someone to join him in a crazy new project. Not being in University anymore just makes things harder as there are less people to ask questions. All I thought I had was the brain of think of the idea and that was it. Well I studied entrepreneurship at a good university so I had to do something somehow. Perhaps using the degree somehow would be a good start. I decided to begin my hunt for a co-founder. As I was succesful in my competition i had some acces to university and it's facilities so became a stalker at the computer science department at the University of Liverpool trying to find someone to join me. I spoke to a couple of people and they loved the idea but the challenges and the work was enough to put them away. Most of them were students so I didn't really get the best of help there as they had their university work to bother about also. Then I went on Facebook and linkedin perhaps a few messages to a couple of people should find me a co-founder. Fortunately I did find two people who were students. I was able to spark some interest in them, but they had university work to do and coding challenges deterred them. It wasn't totally a loss at time this time because one of them did teach me one or two things about coding. The moment I discovered I could grasp some knowledge about coding I decided to do some more learning. next thing I knew I found myself watching coding videos on YouTube.

I started learning one or two things about app development. It didn't take me long enough to learn that my dyslexia was going to become a deterrent. Reading and writing long words were just not my thing. Thus didn't stop me from writing 40 pages of words describing my app, all its features and however button should work in details though. After a number of YouTube videos it was time to start getting things done. I knew I couldn't do it alone because even after learning one language I had to code the server end anyways. I decided I would do something with my newly learnt skills and begin creating my app.

I decided to divide the development of my app into different stages. Front end, back end and Server end. Inbetween those ends I also divided into other smaller stages. I went on LinkedIn to scout for developers. At this stage I was no longer looking for co-founders as I had given up on that move and decided to do things myself. I needed to find a way to create the app in the cheapest way ever. I began messaging people I believed would be able to develop parts of the app for pretty low prices. Learning how coding works made me look and feel knowledgeable and was able to convince the people I spoke to that what I was asking for was little and didn't require much work. prior to speaking to this people I had already completed my very long description of how everything about the app works and had gone on pain to draw how the app should look. (Talk about designing skills) so yeah, I basically designed everything about my app. My brother was able to convert it from the paint look to a more realistic look on photoshop. I spoke to someone who made me a fully functional front end for a very cheap price. I went on freelancers.com to scout for developers. obviously no one very good was going to do it for cheap. If I at all did find someone who could do it for a cheap price, it would mean I was going to find someone who only just learnt how to code and was going to use my app as practice. To be fair I didn't mind so I went for it. Most of the new app developers who were happy to develop the app for a cheap price where Indians and language was a great barrier, explain exactly what you wanted was a task on its own. I had to break every stage down in very little bits so they could understand and begin developing, in many cases I've had to do some research on how to get along with certain parts of the app and teach the developers how to do it. It didn't go very smoothly if  I'm honest. I went through three different sets of developers with one set containing a minimum of about three people. Changing hands from one developer to another was also a challenge as it too about one month for some of the new developers to get used to the codes and understand where everything are.

The challenges just never stopped but I managed anyways. I went through so many even after finding the developers who are still the best till date. I have managed to create the app and made it available on the app store. updates are still flooding in daily and will keep coming to improve user experience. Just Talk, is one of a kind. none that have ever existed and I very much love all it's users. Those I know and those plenty people who I've never met. Bless you all and I wish you all the best of days.
